Vapes were long marketed as a way for smokers to finally kick that nasty habit that effects so many people's physical health around the world. Instead of inhaling the toxic fumes of traditional tobacco based products, vapes would offer the nicotine without all the other bad stuff. It served as a substitute and a possible way to wean yourself off more harmful products.
Fast forward to 2024, and most vapes are made cheaply in China and sold in the US and UK. Most people who use them were never smokers, and the amount of nicotine in them far exceeds traditional tobacco products. Due to poor regulation, the market has shifted to selling bright colour single use vapes in a variety of flavours that seemed to be aimed at young people - and now longer term health impacts are starting to show.
