Night Trap is a horror, or comedy, videogame whose controversial reputation precedes it.
Released in 1992 by developer Digital Pictures for Sega's ill-fated Mega Drive add on the Sega CD, Night Trap was perhaps the most controversial videogame of its time, a videogame used by politicians and parents alike as an example of how games were going to corrupt your kids.
That is bananas, because Night Trap isn’t really very scary, very sexy or very violent – rather, it’s a cheesy mess of bad acting, low quality writing and questionable game mechanics that you’re more likely to find funny than you are frightening.
And because of that, I think it deserves closer inspection.
