Competitive grappling spent a decade rebuilding itself around the heel hook. Inside the UFC cage it barely registered - and almost every leg submission that lands now belongs to the same heavyweight.
Valter Walker has six UFC fights. He lost the first on the scorecards to Lukasz Brzeski in April 2024, and has not been past the first round since:

The four heel hooks took eight minutes and thirty-one seconds of cage time between them. In the same decade - every men's heel hook in the UFC since 1 January 2015 - there have been twelve. Four are Walker's. The other eight belong to eight different men across nearly eleven years.
Only one other fighter has five leg finishes of any kind: Rousimar Palhares, between 2009 and 2013, four of them at middleweight and one at welterweight. Walker is a heavyweight, six foot six, in the division where giving up position to chase a foot is supposed to be least survivable.
And the fifth was not a heel hook at all. The calf slicer against Petersen is only the fourth in UFC history, after Charles Oliveira in 2012, Brett Johns in 2017 and Alice Ardelean in May 2026.
