Day trip from MADRID to the VALLEY OF THE FALLEN and EL ESCORIAL.
The Valley of the Fallen memorial was built after the Spanish Civil War as a symbol of unity and National reconciliation. This place is massive and worth visiting. You can get there in less than an hour drive from Madrid.
After spending a couple of hours in the area, you can move on and continue to EL ESCORIAL.
The Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, commonly known as El Escorial, is the historical residence of the King of Spain. Its construction begun in 1563, and over the centuries, El Escorial has served as a royal palace, monastery, basilica, pantheon, library, museum, university and hospital.
