This week on Cultural Manifesto, Indianapolis musicians Valerie Phelps and Kenny Phelps join host Kyle Long to discuss Valerie's debut album, Project 7.

Over the last several years, Valerie Phelps has become a familiar presence in Indianapolis's music community — booking and promoting performances at the Jazz Kitchen and The Cabaret, while also appearing on stages across the city with her band, The Phelps Connection.

This month, Valerie releases her debut album, Project 7, a collection that showcases her evocative songwriting and wide-ranging musical influences, drawing from jazz, soul, gospel, broadway, and classical music.

The album features performances by Kenny Phelps and the couple's son, Dorian Phelps — two of the most respected drummers in the Indianapolis music scene.

Valerie Phelps and The Phelps Connection will celebrate the release of Project 7 with an album release concert on July 10, 2026, at the Jazz Kitchen.
