I decided going against Formbot and other kits when doing my homework, one of the reasons was low quality parts but also I do not wish to spend time assembling heat inserts or doing wire crimping. I also did not want to have bunch of stuff that I'm going to replace anyway. So when I found a kit from Lecktor that included everything, I wanted to get started with 3D Printing. If you want to buy the same kit take a look at: lecktor.com/en/home/1139-398-voron-v24-350x350-kit.html#/143-accent_colour-fire_engine_red
Instead of hunting for components one-by-one for months and missing parts, Voron has the experience similar to buying a complex lego kit.

I found the no compromise Core XY printer from Voron Design vorondesign.com/voron2.4
But I also knew I want essential mods such as Nevermore, Titanium Backers, StealthBurner and more. Looking at the BOM I caved and looked for local vendor. I'm so glad I did, this does everything I wanted and more.
I also did unboxing of this KIT should you have interest in how it arrives. youtube.com/watch?v=UuT5njcvRE0How to make Steam Deck Quieternext.Insiders2022-04-28 | While there is not much you can do if you had a stroke of bad luck with the fan there are still ways to muffle the whine and change the sound profile. In this video, I go over how to do it for your own Steam Deck.
Software fan fix only makes the fan not work all the time, basically, Valve realized that they had a bit of thermal headroom. And when they are spinning that fan, they are oscillating the speed to not make it whine constantly. This fix only works in Steam OS and is not done at the BIOS level, meaning the fan will work as before in Windows.
The true solution will still be with iFixit selling proper quiet fans.Steam Deck Fan Noise Mitigationsnext.Insiders2022-04-27 | Valve has released a software update that changes the fan profile a bit. It currently has a bug, where it does not reapply after waking from sleep. This is the reason why I cold boot in this video, to have this new fan profile active.
I have additionally applied electrical tape, 5 layers underneath the Valve logo to muffle a bit of that fan whine.
In other words, for someone with a Delta fan in Steam Deck, this is as good as it gets.Steam Deck Fan Noise [Replacement from RMA process]next.Insiders2022-04-25 | This is the fan noise of my New Steam Deck I got from RMA process. While it still has the whine it is way less audible than before. Filmed in excatly the same conditions and equipment as before.GPD Pocket 3 vs Steam Deck Noisenext.Insiders2022-03-26 | Device recordings were taken after 5+ minutes of gameplay.
GPD Pocket 3 running at 15W profile, max load, and fan speed
Steam Deck running also at 15W profile, max load, and fan speed
For more in-depth Steam Deck noise profile see this video - youtube.com/watch?v=TGnudCommdQSteam Deck Fan Noise [RMA To Valve]next.Insiders2022-03-23 | This video was sent to Valve, and confirmed to be within the expected parameters of Steam Deck. Steam Deck makes this high-pitched noise on any fan speed level (meaning my personal complaint is not so much about loudness as much as it is about the whine). To get a feel for it, make sure you can hear the background noise before you hear Steam Deck fans start to ramp up its fans.
Real-world implications mean that the fan noise and whine will annoy anyone within a 3-meter radius in-home, as it will overpower any laptop you have at home and will compete with PS4 in terms of noise and whine.
If you are thinking of playing on the couch while your significant other watches tv, or in bed while others might be sleeping, forget about it. If you want to download something at night, you need to leave it as far as possible and close the door between you and the device, but beware, that the whine will travel through ventilation. If you turn the device on in the office, everyone will know you started gaming because of the noise.
On the positive side, probably nobody wants to sit near you in public transport with that noise and while wearing active noise-canceling headphones you don’t hear that noise or whine anyway.
Please do keep in mind, that in this video demonstration, the device has not had time to heat up nor is it connected to the charger, so this is not even the highest rpm speed (therefore whine and noise) the device can do. Putting phone nearby steam deck with the charger connected to Steam Deck and game running measured 59DB.
