Original Colt 1911 from 1918 up close RyeOnHam 2020-04-12 | Please watch to the end for some bonus footage.This is an all-original WW1 Colt Model of 1911 pistol in .45 ACP. This has not been modified, updated, or altered. A friend of mine was chatting with me at the dog park and mentioned he had inherited a Colt 1911 from his father. The story goes, the father was a bartender and acquired this gun from one of his patrons. Turns out, it was an all original Colt 1911 made in 1918. I offered to clean it up and do a video on it and we went out shooting for the footage you see here.

Best Makarov Grip EVER! RyeOnHam 2017-08-03 | The Makarov has workable grips to begin with, but they aren't the best out there and many American imports have horrid grips. The solution to MANY complaints about the Makarov is the Fab Defense grip made in Israel. They come in left or right-hand configurations and offer improved texture, a palmswell for better grip angle, a relocated magazine release, and a substantial beavertail to stop slide bite and give you a good, high grip. You can get them in Black, Flat Dark Earth, or OD green colors. If you want a set of these grips, search for them on eBay and order them direct from Israel. The trigger is plastic, wobbles from side-to-side, and there is NO tactile trigger reset. I don't know how they were able to engineer ZERO feel to the reset. I have never felt a trigger with so little feedback. On the plus side, pulling the trigger is a very positive experience... dat release tho.

Remington R51: Slow Death? RyeOnHam 2016-01-13 | The Remington R51 is absent from the recently released 2016 Remington catalog. It is, as of the publishing of this video, still showing on the website, though. These mixed signals ahead of SHOT 2016 are disturbing. I have little hope that SHOT will clear things up, but will post an update if that happens.
Adams Arms Closed Gas Piston RyeOnHam 2015-10-16 | The Adams Arms piston system is explained. This is a closed gas system meaning there are no slots, holes, or vents. When the gun operates, excess gas is dumped back into the bore. There are leaks around the gaps in the system, but there is no 'pop' or 'crack' from the gas system as in most every other gas system on the market. This means that the gun is easier to suppress. It also means the gun is cleaner and easier to clean after a long suppressed session.

Ruger MK III Trigger Looseness Hack RyeOnHam 2015-06-16 | Removing trigger play (loose fit) in a factory-new Ruger 22/45 MK III pistol. Another part of my Ruger MK III hacking series. I take a drill bit and drill out the trigger, slide release, and grip frame. I then use the shank of that drill bit as a custom-fit trigger pin. Finally, I shim the trigger to remove most of the side-to-side play. The end result is a MUCH better feeling trigger.Here is a link to where I got the shims: http://goo.gl/TPL4no for around $12The drill bit was a #19 extended, High Speed Steel (HSS). Also known as extra long, extension, or long-shank drill bit. Just try eBay. Don't get a titanium nitride, carbide, or chrome plated drill bit if you are trying this. Squib! (CZ38 Pistol - Short) RyeOnHam 2015-05-13 | My first squib load with factory ammunition... EVER! I've had a couple over the years from handloads and I've seen a dozen or so from others handloads, but factory ammo should not do this. This was PPU PRVI Partizan 380 ACP JHP 95 gr.Were I to guess, I would think that the powder failed to ignite due to either a weak primer, bad powder, or a combination. The loads did not seem very energetic compared to all of the other .380 I've shot in the past.

T/C Contender 45/70 Sight in Session RyeOnHam 2015-02-10 | Thompson Center Contender at the range for a sight-in session. Wanted to get the gun on target at 25 yards. This is a "Super 16" barrel that is a shorter barrel with a muzzle brake permanently installed. The 45/70 was meant for a much longer barrel.
