Hello there. Darren Guffey here. Class of 2019. I'm the most urgent at Cornwall Dermatology and I think the most impactful parts of my training at UVA were the autonomy that I was provided as a resident to really make my own decisions, learn my own lessons with a clear safety net of really great faculty members who were rooting for me.
The second thing I think I took away from UVA was the the breadth and the volume of the surgical training I got there. I really felt like I had the basics down and could, fly on my own. Once I finished residency, allowed me to do, like, a rotation in Arizona on my own and really take good care of those patients.
And I can't say enough good things about the program.
Hi, my name is Carolyn Pollock. I work at a private practice in McLean, Virginia, and I graduated from UVA in 2023. I think the best part about UVA training is that it really gives you a great foundation of all areas of dermatology, surgery complex, medical, dermatology and pediatrics. And you leave really feeling prepared for what you're going to encounter.
I think what separates a UVA doctor from other physicians is that you can not only handle the bread and butter cases, but you really feel comfortable not only diagnosing the more complex conditions, but also how to approach them and treat them.
My name is Ricky Guerra, and I'm a surgeon at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael here in the Bay area. One of the most important aspects of my training at UVA included the individualized attention I received from attendings. I think being part of a smaller program, attendings can really focus their attention on your development. I think they provide a great balance of honest feedback while also being supportive of your current progress.
Another important aspect would be the centralized location. Which allows you to, see interesting cases that are happening in parallel clinics. I consider myself a proud graduate of UVA, and I hope you consider it as your top pick.
