An international group of researchers combined the Artec 3D Scanning SDK and Artec Spider with a PR2 Robot robotic arm to develop a new automated 3D scanning method. This method produces precision 3D models of objects automatically. Comparative tests have shown the new method effectively outperforms previous 3D scanning techniques even when scanning small objects with complicated geometry.
