Scientists at USU have been studying CRISPR systems for awhile now, and biochemist Dr. Ryan Jackson says, "This is a holy grail of medicine and other sciences". With CRISPR-Cas12a2, the team at Utah State has found that they can successfully target and destroy cancerous mutations within cells, while leaving healthy cells fully intact. This could be huge news for cancer treatment!
