The Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion is the heavy-lift workhorse of the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The Next Generation: CH-53K King Stallion
While the CH-53E has been an invaluable asset since entering service in 1981, decades of rugged service in desert and maritime environments have taken a toll. The USMC is currently transitioning to its successor, the CH-53K King Stallion. While it looks physically similar, the CH-53K is an entirely new aircraft featuring fly-by-wire controls, composite blades, and nearly triple the lifting capacity at high-altitude, hot-weather conditions.
