Yes, I know what you're thinking. Isn't Visual Studio Code open source? Not exactly. The source code is open source but the application (binaries) you download aren't. They're stuffed with a bunch of Microsoft telemetry. If you're like me and you don't like handing free data to giant companies, try downloading VSCodium and get the real VS Code experience, compiled without all the creepy tracking and telemetry.
