With all the bad press happening in the game industry, I wanted to share a positive game-adjacent experience I encountered this year. Over the past 3 years, I've collaborated with Boston Cyberarts to develop the curriculum for their Summer Unity Program. As part of the introductory phase, I took the opportunity to showcase Nintendo's design tools to gamify fundamental skills of game development. This year, I challenged our students to design a stage together in Super Mario Maker 2, while learning the level design process. Here is the result over the course of 2 days of development!
