This video shows how LiDAR imagery can be used to find landslides on forested mountainsides. LiDAR imagery is a great way to see the details of mountain landscapes, particularly in the Appalachian Mountains. Landslides that may not be moving now can be brought back to life by development, so a full understanding of what mountainsides "really" look like is important. More and more people are building homes in the North Carolina mountains, but some areas are too high risk. LiDAR helps identify them.
