Chasing the hype is an overhyped practice at this point, if you want to make wiser choices you better know how to exploit the trends 📈

There’s a tool out there called Hype Cycle which defines 5 stages a (new) technology can cross, from left to right, depicting its expectations and adoptions over time.

1. Technology Trigger
2. Peak of Inflated Expectations
3. Trough of Disillusionment
4. Slope of Enlightenment
5. Plateau of Productivity

Beware, it’s not guaranteed for a technology to reach the final stage with widespread adoption. Escaping the trough of disillusionment isn’t an easy task!

PPS: I know, it’s reoccurring for new technologies so calling it cycle isn’t wrong… but hey, where’s the fun? 😂
