Due to mountainous terrain and existing utility lines in some parts of a West Virginia transmission line rebuild project, Michels Power, Inc. combined traditional construction techniques with helicopter-assisted techniques. A helicopter flew poles and sections of structures from a landing zone at the bottom of the hills to their places on the right of way. Communication and trust are essential when lifts with a combined weight up to 6,000 pounds are being lowered into the line workers' waiting hands.
