Custom user interfaces in TouchDesigner are a great tool for making important controls accessible and their settings immediately understandable.

Along with interactive UI elements, it’s often helpful to visualize other project components (like audio) to be able to check on their status without having to exit perform mode.

In this video, Jack DiLaura (@jackdilaura) walks you through a number of options for visualizing audio content as a part of a custom user interface in TouchDesigner.

You’ll work with the OP Viewer COMP and OP Viewer TOP to display an operator viewer as a part of a panel, look into options for processing audio signals to view frequency contents, trim the frequency spectrum to isolate specific frequencies, and more.

In the second half of the video, you’ll work on adapting bar graph-style meter functionality originating from the audioSet COMP (docs.derivative.ca/Palette:audioSet) into a reusable audio meter component that can be easily customized and integrated into a user interface.
