A "baffle" vent is typically a piece of styrofoam that sits on your soffit vent and protects it from insulation falling onto the vent and blocking your intake air flow. However it's more common than not to see insulation baffles installed incorrectly. This means your attic air flow is compromised and can't pull cool air into the attic.
