In this lesson, I show you a handy little exercise to help you get you used to improvising over those neo-soul sounding chords.
A common feature of neo soul is the fast paced key changes, it's important to practice this in order to be able to improvise competently over these types of chords.
The exercise is all about vamping between two chords that have a different key center. Some things that make it easier are identifying common notes between the chords, outlining chord tones and using approach patterns to seamlessly transition between the two chords during your lines.
This is something that can take time to develop, so be patient, take it slow and make sure you have fun during the process.
