As the U.S.-China AI competition intensifies, Congress is playing an increasingly active role in shaping America’s response. Under Chairman Mast’s leadership, the House Foreign Affairs Committee has advanced significant bipartisan legislation on the strategic technology competition with China, including the AI OVERWATCH Act, the MATCH Act, and the Chip Security Act, among others. Together, these bills would tighten export controls on advanced chips and the tools used to make them, accelerate exports of American AI technology to allies and partners, and strengthen U.S. defenses against the risks posed by Chinese AI.
