U.S. Central Command says American forces hit two Iranian launchers on Sunday after observing Iranian forces preparing to launch rockets carrying mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, residents reported hearing an explosion near Larak Island.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency says at least two people were killed and two others were injured in the U.S. airstrikes.
Iran also launched an immediate retaliatory strike.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it launched ballistic missiles and drones at the King Hussein and Al Azraq bases in Jordan, both of which host U.S. forces.
The IRGC claimed the strikes destroyed technical infrastructure, maintenance facilities and areas where fighter jets were stationed, causing extensive damage.
U.S. Central Command, meanwhile, defended Sunday’s attack as a "limited, precise" operation targeting Iranian forces it said posed an imminent threat to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest exchange marks the first major flare-up in military confrontation between the two sides since late July.
It comes as Washington has stepped up economic pressure on Tehran while Iran continues to assert control over the Strait of Hormuz.

ENHYPENs eighth mini album, THE SIN : BLISS, has topped the Billboard 200, marking the groups first No. 1 on the albums chart since their debut in 2020.
ENHYPEN first entered the Billboard 200 in 2021 with BORDER : CARNIVAL and have since placed a total of 10 albums on the chart. The group previously reached a career-high No. 2 with both ROMANCE : UNTOLD and THE SIN : VANISH, before finally claiming the top spot with THE SIN : BLISS.

I AM has also achieved a Perfect All-Kill, meaning the song reached No. 1 across all major real-time, daily, and weekly music charts in South Korea simultaneously, while also earning nine wins on music shows.

On Monday, we reported that only days after the albums release it sold a million records. And just less than 5 days after that, it has sold another million showing ENHYPENs immense popularity. This is now ENHYPEN’s fifth album to surpass two million copies in sales, following ORANGE BLOOD, ROMANCE:UNTOLD, DESIRE:UNLEASH,. and THE SIN:VANISH.
THE SIN:BLISS is the group’s first release since reorganising as a six-member act and has also made a strong start in Japan, selling more than 165-thousand copies on its first day and taking the No. 1 spot on Oricon’s Daily Album Ranking from August 25.
