In February of 2023, people in America started posting UFO videos on social media, which turned out to be a spy balloon from China. One of the first sightings took place in South Montana on February 1st, and the video of the event was shared on TikTok by the witness.
In the video, you can see a white object surrounded by fighter jets. It was quickly determined that it was a Chinese spy balloon. On the same day, President Joe Biden ordered the Pentagon to take it down, but it was only brought down three days later for safety reasons for the surrounding residents.
A senior U.S. official pushed back against China's claim that the balloon was simply for weather observations and that it was indeed intended for surveillance. The Chinese foreign ministry criticized the U.S. for downing the balloon and claimed it was for civilian use and entered the U.S. due to unforeseen circumstances.
