When practicing a fast passage, play it as if it’s a nocturne. Be as lyrical and expressive with every single note, and play at a reasonably slow tempo.
This type of slow practicing is usually overlooked once the passage is "learned" enough to play at a reasonable tempo. If you put less focus on the speed and instead focus on listening to every single note, you will be able to increase your tempo in a manner that is in line with what you can handle with ease.My Most Unexpected Musical BreakthroughNahre Sol2022-09-02 | How I changed as a musician while learning the...accordion!

These arpeggios (from Op. 10 No. 1), consist of widely spaced chords that contain 4 notes.
These 4 notes are broken apart - (played separately), then repeated up and down the octaves.
This creates a nice overlapping pattern. You can apply this to any 4 note chord.
When practicing them, it is helpful to keep these groupings in mind.
You may first want to focus on the first note (going up = the thumb). Emphasize it a bit and really “place” them.
Then play the first 2 notes together, and repeat. This works on the transition between the chord position changes up and down the octaves.
Repeat this type of process for other pairs of notes as well.
Other methods to consider: rhythmic (dotted note) practicing, repeating notes, repeating pairs of notes, etc.
Hope that helps! How to Sound Like MOZARTNahre Sol2022-08-20 | What makes Mozart sound like Mozart? And how might he have arranged "Happy Birthday?" on the piano, as a sonata?

The answer is not only about trying to synchronize the two hands. Focusing too much on the hands “playing at the same time” will not take you as far as focusing on the BEAT.
First, match each hand separately to the beat. Be as precise as you can, and really feel the rhythm.
Then, put your hands together (start slower - which I skipped while demonstrating). As you are playing, continue focusing more on matching the two parts to the beat, rather than trying to match each other. Then, both parts have the same anchor.
This will allow your hands to synchronize naturally, while also maintaining good rhythm.

#studioghibli #hisaishi #filmscoringPlay Without Tension w/ “Micro Flaps” 👋🏻 #shortsNahre Sol2022-02-05 | My tips for staying loose:
1. Check your shoulders and your elbows - usually this is where we are holding tension without even noticing.
2. Exaggerate and do a loose, relaxed gesture (at the piano or away from it). This helps our body condition itself to recognize what it feels to let go of this tension.
3. Ground yourself by sitting on the bench properly, with your feet nicely planted.
4. As you are playing, gradually minimize the amount of exaggerated movements you are doing, but maintain a similar amount of relaxation (you will have to find a balance between the right amount of flexing to play the notes vs relaxing).
5. Keep your fingertips active — not everything should be loosey goosey.7 REAL-World Skills I Wish I Learned in Music SchoolNahre Sol2022-01-30 | I SO wish I learned these important skills in music school! #education #finances #freelanceHow to Master FAST but SOFT Playing 🤫 #shortsNahre Sol2022-01-18 | Details below ⬇️
How to play FAST but also SOFT?
The two are often hard to combine because soft playing usually requires more control.
I recommend starting at a louder level first. Make sure that you are able to play the passage with precision at this comfortably loud volume.
Then, incrementally decrease the volume. Adjust your tactile approach as necessary. The changes will be quite subtle…but you will get used to automatically adjusting what is needed per volume level.
Use the soft pedal with care. Don’t let it “take over” for you - like I did here (notice how I swallowed notes right away at first!).
Important tip: Don’t just think of volume. I think it helps to concentrate more on the character of the passage, rather than on volume itself. Ask - WHY are you intending to play this passage soft?

#beats #piano #productionHow to trim your DYNAMICS #shortsNahre Sol2022-01-13 | Details below ⬇️
When in doubt, take care of the outer ends.
Unless there is a significant inner line or the like, it’s often effective to bring out the lowest and highest pitches in a passage. This frames the sound nicely, kind of like how hamburger buns keep everything together. 🍔
The bass provides support and the higher notes add punctual color.
Overdoing the middle notes *sometimes* takes away from the shape of the overall sound.
In this passage, especially when the notes get busier, I’m looking at all of the notes there as a big clump. Therefore, I’m able to select in my head which notes are on the lowest end, and which notes are on the highest end.
Hope that makes sense! 🙂🙌🏻How I Combat Motivation Loss (As a Musician)Nahre Sol2022-01-02 | If you're picking up the piano again, these 5 tips are essential in staying motivated and making progress!
