Throughout the 1980s we made our living performing in various live musical acts, work was plentiful and the party was nonstop!
One of our most popular bands was the 'Uptown Side Band Dixieland Trio'.
The brainchild of founding members Kevin Gainer and the Cramer Bros, the Trio was an instant success, performing multiple shows daily all over the city of Edmonton, Alberta. Mike Stoyles, or Stoyles as we called him took over as lead player in the fall of 1985 as the band moved into some of it's busiest years, including as many as 120 shows during the ten days of Klondike days, 1986! Eventually Mike would join the Canadian military in the late 1980's leaving the band for greener pastures. Tragically, Mike passed suddenly in 2004, leaving behind his loving wife. The trio continued after Mike left, featuring Dennis Sheehan and old jazzman Chuck Barber as lead players.
Dennis recording this demo tape, live off the floor, in his home studio sometime in 1986 or 1987. The video footage is a clip filmed by CBC Television Edmonton and was used nightly to end their daily broadcast.
In 2023 the Cramer Bros reunited with Kevin for a Forty Year Reunion show in Penticton B.C. featuring Kevin's wife Gail on Sax and Vocals.
