Homemade Science with Bruce Yeany | Upside down water glass experiment IMPROVED. #science #air pressure @YeanyScience | Uploaded August 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
The classic experiment of filling a jar up with water, putting a card over the mouth and turning it over. The weight of the water inside the glass reduces the pressure at the top of the container to less than atmospheric pressure of the air so it is the air outside the glass holding it in place. However, this air pressure is applied to all the surfaces of the container so it can be used to hold cards at other locations on the jar.
