KITCHEN SCIENCE LAB | Upside down water bottle trick. Physics trick @kitchensciencelab1312 | Uploaded July 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
What keeps water in an upside down bottle? Why is the water level in the bottle higher?
When the neck of an upside-down bottle is in water, it doesn't come out of it. The pressure of the water column inside the bottle is balanced by the atmospheric pressure on the open surface of the water in the container.
If the neck of the bottle is above the surface of the water, the pressure inside the bottle becomes greater than the atmospheric pressure and it pours out.
Bird drinkers work on this physical phenomenon. If the water level in the container drops and the bottle neck comes out of the water, some of the water pours out. As soon as the water level reaches the level of the opening, the water stops pouring out. In this way, the drinker acts automatically.
