With the support of the European Union, we are working with North Macedonia to transform its railway system into a greener, safer and more sustainable mode of transport.

The EBRD is financing the construction of the eastern section of Rail Corridor VIII, a strategic line that will connect Skopje with the Bulgarian border. Once fully delivered, the project will provide almost 100 kilometres of modern railway infrastructure, representing the most substantial investment in North Macedonia’s rail sector in decades.
