Judge Jefferson in Englewood, Co is a good municipal judge. He's elected by the people, the only elected municipal judge in the State of Colorado. He's disrespected by city council- they continue to avoid giving him a raise because council person Steve Ward has an undefined problem with him. Not sure what's fueling his disdain for Joe Jefferson, but it's very bizarre what the expectations are for this judge from a city council deliberately ignorant to the cases before him.

Mr. Buell refused to go to court two times following that ^^ hearing. This case is a very well documented one for not addressing the mental health crisis throughout the homeless community thus keeping people in homelessness while jail remains the revolving door. To what end?
There are real questions here that a society has to face; is this the proper role of government as a whole? How can Mr. Buell get the services he's demanding? Is he violent? Are the police intent on just locking him up for periods of time and coddling society's desire for judges to remand folks like Mr. Buell to incarceration for petty crimes? Are we REALLY expecting jail to be the answer?
These issues are not going away. They are in fact getting worse.
