Life Update: Ecuador's Progress, Personal Adventures, and Reverse Culture Shock
Greetings, everyone! In this video, I share updates on the situation in Ecuador and my recent experiences. Here are some key highlights:
- Ecuador is making significant strides with the help of U.S. delegates, who are providing training and assistance. Around 3,000 gang members have been arrested, and the situation is relatively calm.
- Personally, I've been in the States for two weeks. While I enjoy being here, the cost of living has dramatically increased since I last lived here three years ago. Dining out is expensive, so I prefer cooking at home now.
- I address the concept of reverse culture shock, noting the stark price differences, such as a bottle of Jim Beam whiskey costing $28 now compared to much less before.
On a personal note, I've heard from several people leaving Ecuador due to the ongoing state of emergency. I encourage everyone to stay optimistic as these challenges will pass, and Ecuador will emerge stronger. I'm not leaving Ecuador and plan to return in a couple of months.
- I recently bought a 2008 Yamaha FJR 1300 motorcycle, which had some brake issues, but it's being fixed, and I'm excited to start riding it soon.
- For those traveling to Ecuador, especially newcomers, I advise staying safe and using common sense, like spending the night in Guayaquil and traveling to Monta during the day.
