I've been working on a few commissions recently, and this one is for EarthnAshes. I was allowed to upload it and share it with you, which is really fantastic. The brief was simple. Adventurous, with guitars and if possible, cello. After writing about half the tune I realized I hadn't written with the cello in mind, but I was going to try to incorporate it, so I gave it a jazzy solo to introduce it. I would never have done that if it wasn't part of the original vision. Commissions are absolutely wild, it's a lot of fun because it always has these little twists that make the experience something new and different.
I don't think I've ever spent this much time to give each little instrument their own parts to play. The result is a hearty and folky stew, and I hope you find it tasty.

This is the main theme for the game, its also the first song I wrote for the project. Since the game is pixel graphics I think most people would expect a bit soundtrack, Im not a huge fan of working with that so instead, I decided to do a really raw sounding piano-based soundtrack. I wanted the tracks to sound more like a live recording than a polished studio recording. I left in most of the clicks and pops and just let it be the way it is. To me at least it makes the overall sound a lot more homely and comforting.
I created three versions on the main theme, this one which is a daytime theme, a nighttime one, and a third medieval version.
The songs wont be uploaded in album order and thats just for one reason, I dont want to have multiple weeks of dungeon music in a row, so Ill mix it up a bit.
