Public health experts call for NSW health workers, especially aged care workers, to be immunised against influenza to protect patients.
The nurses union believes allowing nurses to stay home once they realise they are sick with influenza is a better policy. That is probably why there have been more than 180 flu outbreaks in aged care homes since 2014, with 103 outbreaks and 60 deaths in NSW nursing homes in 2015 alone.
