When you wave at a whale… and it looks like they wave back! 👋🐋
One of our youngest whale watchers was busy waving hello when this humpback lifted its enormous pectoral fin from the water at just the right moment.
Now, we can’t say the whale was actually waving back… but we’re more than happy to pretend it was!
Humpback whales have the longest pectoral fins of any whale, and they can reach up to 5 metres in length! They use them for everything from manoeuvring through the water to communication and spectacular surface behaviours like pec slapping.
