Last week I found an old artist statement from 2001, in which I referred to a series of paintings: "The self portraits are based on my own experiences and states of mind, real and imagined. The rabbit, as me, is free to do things I cannot and helpless to avoid the situations into which I place it. I first began to refer to myself as the rabbit when I started feeling sorry for and identifying with an imaginary rabbit-shaped aspic."
And that, folks, is how I got myself an M.F.A.
