Translation - Isha Upanishad:
INVOCATION:
"God is perfectly whole. And because God is perfectly whole, all that emanates from God, such as this phenomenal reality, are perfectly sustained as perfectly whole. Whatever is formed of the perfect God is also perfect in itself. Because God is the complete whole, even though so many whole beings emanate from God, God remains still the complete balance."
VERSES:
1. "All that is within the universe is sustained and encompassed by the Lord. One should therefore protect the Self through renunciation. Do not desire for other people's wealth with the understanding of who is the true possessor."
2. "Acting in such a manner a person may wish to live for a hundred years, for it is only action performed in such a way that will not bind him to the law of karma."
3. "The realms of the demonic (Asuras) are regions that are full of darkness and blinding ignorance. That person who disregards the true self, or Atman, enters into such darkness at the time of death."
4. "Though unmoving by material means, God is swifter than the mind. While being still God is swifter than all others running. "God is ever beyond all in excellence. Toward himself God leads even the god of the life air and the True Self."
5. "God moves and yet does not move. God is far and yet is very near as well." "God is within all things, and yet is situated outside of
everything as well."
6. "The wise person sees all beings situated in God and God situated in all beings. For this reason the wise person hates no one."
7. "For the person who always sees all living beings existing in such unity with the Lord what illusion or sorrow can he know?"
8. "God fills all with his radiance. He is free of material body and invulnerable, omniscient, pure, and uncontaminated by evil. God is the supreme sage, all-knowing, imminent, yet transcendent. He situates all on their path to the eternal."
9. "Those who are devoted solely to the path of ritual action fall into deep darkness. Those who engage only in the path of speculative knowledge fall into even deeper darkness still."
10. "There is one result that is derived from spiritual knowledge and a different result that is derived from knowledge of ritual action. We have heard this from the wise sages who have taught this truth to us."
11. "The person who knows both the processes of spiritual knowledge and that of material knowledge together has the ability to transcend the influence of death and experience the full joys of immortality."
12. "Those who are engaged in the worship of the immanent alone enter into deep darkness and into even deeper darkness still fall the worshipers of the transcendent alone."
13. "There is one result that is derived from worshiping the imminent and a different result that is derived from worshiping the transcendent. We have heard this from the wise sages who taught this truth to us."
14. "The person who knows both the immanent and the transcendent together has the ability to transcend the influence of death and experience the full joys of immortality."
15. "The face of truth is covered by a golden disk of effulgence. O my Lord, sustainer of all that lives, kindly unveil yourself and exhibit your true form to I who adore you."
16. "O my Lord, O Controller, Sage of the Heavens, Maintainer of the universe, Well-wisher of the progenitors of mankind, please withdraw your effulgent rays, So that I can behold your radiant form. That Supreme God is like unto the Sun, As am I in my innermost Self."
17. "May my life air be merged with the totality of air. May my body go to ashes. Aum. Now, oh, my mind, please remember all my strivings toward God. Please remember all that I have done for God."
18. "By the path of goodness lead us to happiness in You, oh my Lord. Who is as powerful as fire, free us from the evils of deceit. We offer our obeisances onto You."
