Episode Highlights
The Two Worlds of Healing: Dr. Gupta discusses growing up between Houston's conventional pediatrics and her grandmother’s Indian spice cabinet, eventually leading her to a PhD quest to validate ancient remedies with modern science.

Mental vs. Physical Inflammation: A breakdown of how chronic stress and "mental inflammation" create a feedback loop that damages the gut and dysregulates hormones.
The Power of Turmeric & Curcumin: Why your kitchen spice isn't enough to fight chronic pain and how specific extracts (curcuminoids) act as the "ultimate janitor" for your cells.
Vagus Nerve Toning: Discussion on the Apollo Neuro and other biohacking tools that help transition the body from "survival mode" (sympathetic) to "healing mode" (parasympathetic).

imagine, you know, you go and you ask your doctor, say for a hemoglobin A1C, which measures, you know, the, um, the average glucose over the last 3 months, you know, deterr- trying, trying to detect diabetes and, and you know, you get your result back. What do you do with that, right? You know, your doctor has about 10, 15 minutes maybe, if youre lucky, to hand you information and teach you information on what you can do to change that.
[16:16-17:05]
Um, and we all know it has long-term effects, and- and so this is very important. It would take hours to sit down and explain to somebody how much, you know, you need to do in order to change it. Right. What youve done is take a topic that is larger than life, you know, the microbiome really is at this point, and I think once- once contemporary medicine really grasps how big the microbiome effects are on us, and tries to tear that down an- and get, you know, get results and- and give that to patients, were gonna find its n- n- you know, next to impossible to spend the amount of time with a patient, personalize it, and give them a, you know, a- a list of things that they can actually do to change it on a timeline, and things they can do long-term.
[17:05-17:37]
That is what this test does. And its so just mind-blowing that, you know, you can go get your labs done. You get nothing really except results. But on this side, you can actually get a plan of care. So its really, really a wonderful thing that youve done and the- and the amount of information that a patient gets, you know, from that. The doctor, you know, let alone, we- we get that information. We can- we can filter through that, but the amount of data that a patient gets is absolutely amazing.
