*Peak cherry blossom season at the University of Washington* — one of the
most spectacular spring displays in the United States. The Yoshino cherry
trees in The Quad explode into bloom for just 1-2 weeks each year, drawing
thousands of visitors from across Seattle and beyond. This 4.5-mile walk
covers the full campus: Red Square, The Quad (three times — it's worth it),
Drumheller Fountain, Sylvan Grove, the George Washington Statue, University
Way "The Ave," Greek Row, Husky Stadium, the Montlake Bridge, and the Lake
Washington Ship Canal waterside trail.

🏛️ *ABOUT THE UW CHERRY BLOSSOMS*
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The Quad at the University of Washington is home to 30 Yoshino cherry
trees that typically bloom in late March or early April, depending on
the year. The trees were planted in the 1960s and now form a canopy
of pink and white blossoms that draws tens of thousands of visitors
during peak bloom — usually lasting only 1-2 weeks. The UW campus
itself opened in 1861 and covers 703 acres in Seattle's University
District. Drumheller Fountain, visited twice on this tour, is one of
the most iconic viewpoints on campus — on clear days, Mt. Rainier
appears perfectly framed at the end of Rainier Vista. Sylvan Grove,
tucked away in the southwest corner of campus, is one of Seattle's
most peaceful and least-known outdoor spaces.

▪ Arrive early on weekends — The Quad fills up by mid-morning
during peak bloom
▪ The best light for photography is early morning when the campus
is quiet and the blossoms are backlit
▪ Drumheller Fountain (56:28) frames Mt. Rainier perfectly on
clear days — worth the detour even outside blossom season
▪ Sylvan Grove (2:07:59) is almost always uncrowded — a hidden gem
most visitors miss entirely
