In this video, I talk to Fatma Mili about the role of higher education in society. We talk about paradigms in higher education, trends in STEM education, and the future of higher education in our society.

Dr. Fatma Mili is the Interim Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University, N.J. (starting July 1st). She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France, and spent her career in academia. Her disciplinary research was in the theoretical foundations of computing, AI, and Human Decision Making, and bio-inspired computing and complex systems. She started her career at Oakland University and moved to Purdue University, UNC Charlotte, and GVSU, where she took on leadership roles of increasing scope. She served as department chair, associate dean, center director, dean, and provost. The impetus of her work has been the leadership role and responsibility of higher education: leadership rooted in science and facts, driven by humanity and compassion, and focused on positive, transformational, sustained results for individuals and communities, and for current and future generations.
