The SIPTU Manufacturing Division Biennial Delegate Conference took place in Galway on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th October. The largest gathering of private sector worker representatives in Ireland, the conference will be attended by over 220 delegates from every sector of the manufacturing industry, from pharma to agri-food.
The conference theme was ‘Union Renewal: Winning a Fair Deal for Workers’ and will focus on the Union’s plans to improve the work and lives of members working in the private sector. Motions to be debated at the conference reflect workers’ concerns about protecting trade union activists, increasing redundancy payment thresholds and abolishing subminimum rates of pay.
