*About this show:* When Union Pacific's elegantly restored A-B-A set of E-9s pulled its first excursion train from Denver to Laramie, in 1994, Pentrex was there to cover the event. The locomotives look and sound great as they roar past our cameras, rolling over UP's Greeley Subdivision after their departure from Denver's Union Station.
The throaty growl of the locomotives can be heard echoing through the hills as the E-9s pull the train up the grades of Sherman Hill.
Union Pacific's Superintendent of Heritage Operations at the time, Steve Lee, explains the history of the locomotives and their reconstruction. You'll also go inside locomotive 951 to see the new cab control stand and V-16 prime mover. The era of luxurious train travel comes back to life - at least for the Union Pacific - with UP's elegant E-9s!
