Come along for a visit to Metra’s Elmhurst Station at Elmhurst, Illinois on the morning of January 16, 2026. We’ll witness two eastbound Union Pacific freight trains and one inbound Metra Union Pacific West (UP-W) train during my first visit to the Union Pacific Geneva Subdivision.

The first train is powered by Union Pacific ES44AC-H No. 2767 and Union Pacific AC45CCTE No. 7973. The second train is led by METX cab car No. 8437 and features METX F59PHI No. 87 (in patched Amtrak Surfliner livery) shoving on the rear. The third and final train is powered by Union Pacific AC44CWCTE No. 5997 and Union Pacific AC45CCTE No. 7878.
