On the evening of May 26, 2026, my friend Danny and I chased Union Pacific train M-BNAS down the UP Joliet Subdivision as it departed Bloomington, Illinois for St. Louis, Missouri. We begin at E 750 North Road in Funks Grove Township. U.S. Route 66 and Interstate 55 are across the tracks and in the background. Next, we catch up to the train at Vine Street in Atlanta. Finally, we conclude our chase at Governor Oglesby Street in Elkhart. The power for today’s edition of M-BNAS is UP SD62 No. 2236 and UP SD62 No. 2235, a pair of consecutively-numbered rebuilt EMD SD60 locomotives. Both were built for Union Pacific in the spring of 1988 and are familiar faces on this Alton and Southern Railway transfer run.
