Union Pacific Challenger 3985 depicts the History of Union Pacific Challenger 3985, the then world's largest operating Steam Locomotive at the time. Over the years, this video & another depicting the history UP 844 were updated periodically with newer narration & additional sections over a few year span, beginning in the early 1990s. This being the original version of this show.

Since the Production of this program, UP 3985 & UP 5511 have been donated to Railroading Heritage Of Midwest America along with a number of other pieces of the Heritage fleet. 3985 & 5511 will be undergoing complete restorations to operation in the coming months. To find out more, visit rrhma.com
This was produced in 1994 by Gandy Dancer Productions, as one the Union Pacific Steam Crew videos sold by the Union Pacific back in the 1990s. Gandy Dancer Productions that operated out of Greeley, Colorado produced a number of Union Pacific Steam Crew focused programs & of other Railroad interests in the 1990s, many of their programs are lost to time. This 20 Minute documentary covers the story of Indys Steam Survivor, Nickel Plate Road 587 from its revenue career on the LE&W & the NKP to its present day disposition awaiting its chance to steam again. This documentary is a revamp of my original 587 documentary put together & released in July of 2018, having been completely reworked & updated with additional material not in the original version of the documentary.
