Unified Sports brings together student-athletes of all abilities, including players with and without intellectual disabilities. "Enable: The Disability Podcast" hosts Geoff "DeafGeoff" Herbert and Kurt Hower interviewed Central New York high schools at Unified Basketball Media Day in Liverpool, N.Y., to learn about their values: Teamwork, inclusion and fun.
We also asked them about their skills on the court, favorite players, favorite foods, and what they like best about being part of the team.
Unified Sports in New York state has grown to more than 300 basketball and 250 bowling teams across the state. Athletes from 25 teams participated in syracuse.com's first-ever Unified basketball media day at Liverpool High School, taking photos, getting interviewed by sports reporters, and creating viral videos.
