You know that diffusion softens light, and you might even know HOW it does it, but new filmmakers still often struggle to understand how softening light can drastically change the look of your entire scene even if you're just softening light on your subject. This video explores how diffusion & light softening works and the effect it will have on your entire scene.
A note on our use of Magic Cloth. While rolls of magic cloth are available to larger film productions (as shown), it is more typically found as the thick diffusion material supplied with soft boxes or diffusion light modifiers, where as Opal is closer to the lightest diffusion available with soft boxes (though Opal is still a bit lighter that even that).
