🌱 Ever wonder what the different scales on your conductivity meter mean? 🤔 Let's break it down.
Conductivity measures the ability of a solution to conduct electricity, which directly relates to the nutrients available for your plants. There are a few key scales:
1️⃣ EC (Electrical Conductivity) – Measured in milliSiemens (mS/cm), commonly used worldwide. 1.0 EC is the base value for nutrient strength.
2️⃣ PPM (Parts Per Million) – Measures dissolved solids. Keep in mind different conversion factors (500, 700) depending on your meter!
3️⃣ TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) – Similar to PPM, measuring total solids in your nutrient solution.
🔧 Tip: Always check which ppm scale your feeding schedule uses and adjust your meter accordingly.
Conductivity serves as a proxy for the overall health and nutrient content of your hydroponic solution. By maintaining conductivity within the optimal range for your plants, you can ensure they receive the necessary nutrients for healthy growth and development. 🌿💧.
