🌡️ What happens when a rod is heated but can’t expand?

It develops thermal stress!

When temperature increases, the rod tries to expand. But if it’s restricted, internal stress builds up.

👉 Thermal strain = αΔT
👉 Stress develops when expansion is prevented

This is why expansion joints are used in bridges and rails.

Simple physics, critical engineering!
