This UNDERGROUND Yellow Jacket Empire was absolutely MASSIVE! Well over 5,000 Eastern Yellow Jackets (Vespula maculifrons) in this colony! I dug up and removed this nest, discovering a nest that had it struggles with physical collapse, and rebuilding. Really interesting to see how this colony restructured a damaged nest and rebuilt. After digging up this nest and vacuuming all the wasps, I took the nest home and fed the larvae and pupae to my animals!
