When Golpe Filmes set out to create a fun and vibrant short film, they had no idea how dramatically their production workflow would be enhanced. With the ATOMOS CONNECT and Ninja V+, Shogun CONNECT and the Sony FX30 and Sony FX6 working in tandem, the crew could streamline workflows and create new, innovative ways of working to realise their creative vision more efficiently than ever.
Produced in collaboration with Atomos, Nanlite, and Sony, Undercover tells the story of a hotel receptionist dreaming about being an undercover agent.
Cinematographer Antonio Morais reaped the benefits of a Ninja V+ mounted to his Sony FX30 during production, utilizing extensive monitoring, exposure and focussing tools. This flexibility allowed Antonio to get closer to the talent to provide a sense of intimacy between the audience and the characters in the final film. An ATOMOS CONNECT attached to his Ninja meant that Antonio could also remotely upload clips to an off-site editor through Frame.io for them to edit immediately, cutting post-production times and getting the most out of his Ninja.
Shogun CONNECT on the Sony FX6 was a versatile Cine rig and a vital element in the Camera to Cloud (C2C) workflow, sending proxy clips to their editor to comment on in real-time and ensure the necessary coverage was shot. A Sumo 19 was also used on-set as a large, high-quality studio monitor for the Director and DIT team to monitor the footage using LUTs and its extensive monitoring tools.
With so many production worries taken away by the CONNECT monitor-recorders, Golpe Filmes could focus on the creative and tell an exciting yet humorous story filled with cinematic moments.
