Welcome to The VR Zone.. Today we’re unboxing The Sony PlayStation VR Worlds Bundle (CUH-ZVR1 Series). I have never played a VR game on the PS4 before so this is going to be KILLER man..
Now, I’ve got to tell you.. When I first jumped into VR and flew an X-Wing in Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: VR Mission, it felt like my childhood dream had come true from back in 1977..
I’ve always wanted to fly an X-Wing ever since I was a kid, especially after seeing Star Wars and playing that Old School Atari Star Wars game with the vector graphics.. I love that Arcade Game.. But I must to say.. VR was way more KILLER than I ever imagined..
Now, let’s talk about the PS4 VR Worlds Bundle...
The Sony PlayStation VR Worlds Bundle (Model CUH-ZVR1) is a pretty iconic bundle for the PlayStation VR system, especially if you're into diving into the world of virtual reality on your PS4.
The main VR Headset (CUH-ZVR1), designed for use with the PS4, offers a 5.7-inch OLED display with a 1920x1080 resolution (960x1080 per eye) and 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals. It's also equipped with 3D audio and a built-in microphone.
PlayStation Camera: This is essential for tracking your movements. It has four built-in microphones for voice commands and positional tracking.
PlayStation VR Worlds Game: This is the big selling point of the bundle is the PlayStation VR Worlds is a compilation of VR experiences. It includes a variety of experiences, such as The London Heist, Ocean Descent, Scavenger’s Odyssey, VR Luge, and Danger Ball.
Each one is a different genre that shows off what the PSVR can do, from action-packed sequences to more relaxed, exploration-driven experiences.
PS Move Controllers (optional but recommended for some experiences): Depending on the bundle, some came with the PS Move controllers, which offer a more immersive experience for certain VR titles. They track your hand movements in space, making activities like shooting, throwing, and swinging feel much more natural.
Key Features: 6 Degrees of Freedom (DoF): Allows for head and motion tracking, so you can look around and move naturally within the virtual space.
Comfortable Design: Adjustable head straps with padding make it comfortable for long gaming sessions.
Cinematic Mode: You can use the PSVR to play PS4 games or watch movies in a virtual cinema.
What’s Great About It..
Immersive Experience: It was a great starting point for PS4 owners looking to dip their toes into VR without breaking the bank compared to other VR systems like Oculus or HTC Vive at the time.
Plug-and-play: Since it’s designed for the PS4, it doesn’t require a powerful PC like other VR systems.
What Could Be Better?
Resolution: While the OLED display provides vibrant colors, the resolution is a bit lower compared to newer VR headsets like the PS VR2 or other PC VR systems, which means the visuals can sometimes appear a little blurry or pixelated up close.
Wires: The CUH-ZVR1 model is wired, which could cause a bit of clutter and limit freedom of movement compared to wireless headsets.
Overall, the PlayStation VR Worlds Bundle is a solid entry-level VR system for PS4 owners. It provided a great gateway into VR gaming, especially for those who wanted to play games like Beat Saber, Resident Evil 7, or Astro Bot Rescue Mission, all while maintaining that Sony console experience.
