Exploring The Set: The set for the TV show All in the Family included the Bunker family's living and dining rooms, as well as a stairwell. The set featured wallpaper-covered walls, 1960s furniture and carpet, and other set dressing. For example, Gloria and Mike's room included items from Gloria's childhood, such as dolls, posters, and records.

The show was filmed at CBS Television City in Hollywood from 1971 to 1975, and then at Metromedia Square in Hollywood from 1975 to 1979. The house featured in the opening credits is located at 89–70 Cooper Avenue in Glendale, Queens, New York, but the set version of the Bunkers' home had a front porch, unlike the real house.

All in the Family is an American television sitcom that aired on CBS for nine seasons, from January 12, 1971, to April 8, 1979. It was later produced as Archie Bunker's Place, a continuation series, which picked up where All in the Family ended and ran for four seasons through 1983.

All in the Family is touted as the series that brought reality to prime-time TV entertainment. The lead character, Archie Bunker, is a loudmouthed, uneducated bigot who believes in every stereotype he has ever heard. His wife, Edith, is sweet but not the sharpest knife in the drawer. They and their daughter, Gloria, and her husband, Mike, all live in a working-class home. Unfortunately for Archie, he can't avoid the people he disdains: His son-in-law, whom Archie calls "Meathead" is an unemployed student and of Polish descent; the Jeffersons next door are black; Edith's cousin Maude is a feminist; and, later, his partners in a local tavern are Jewish.

All in the Family has been ranked as one of the best American television series. The show became the most watched show in the United States during the summer reruns of the first season, and topped the yearly Nielsen ratings from 1971 to 1976, the first television series to have held the position for five consecutive years.

The episode "Sammy's Visit" was ranked number 13 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time. TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time ranked All in the Family as number four. Bravo also named the show's protagonist, Archie Bunker, TV's greatest character of all time. In 2013, the Writers Guild of America ranked All in the Family the fourth-best written TV series. In 2023, Variety ranked All in the Family #16 on its list of the 100 greatest TV shows.
